Lee Arts Foundation (LAF) invites the community to join in celebrating a new art installation by Snoqualmie Carver, Wayne Graika. Four years in the making, this art was paid for by a grant from the Snoqualmie Tribe, with additional funds and production by LAF as a gift to the City of Carnation and the greater Snoqualmie Valley. We are humbled by the mastery of the carving and Wayne’s intentions behind the piece.

The artwork is hand-carved cedar and includes a ‘bench’ canoe, 5 canoe paddles that form the back of the canoe, and two storyboards framing the piece. This art is an incredible addition to Tolt Commons and provides opportunities to learn more about the enduring stories, traditions, and artistry of the Snoqualmie Tribe. The installation also includes interpretive signage detailing the meaning and history of traditional Snoqualmie art.
